PEORIA, Ill. – Illinois American Water says it’s spending about a million dollars to build a new pump station that should help Bartonville-area customers.
The new station replaces one that, officials say, was built in the 1930’s, has reached the end of its useful life, and will be retired.
The company says the new pump station will have energy-saving technology to vary output based on demand, and meets standards for sustainable environmentally-friendly operations.
“Illinois American Water’s values for sustainable and environmental operations.” said Trip Barton, engineering manager, in a news release. “Whenever possible, we implement green technology to help decrease energy use and cost, reducing our environmental footprint and benefiting our customers.”
It’s expected to be brought online in the next month, and Illinois American says it will not impact water service.
