EAST PEORIA, Ill. – Two people hit and killed on one East Peoria roadway last weekend are now being identified, and we’re learning that one arrest has been made in the case.
Tazewell County Coroner Charles R. Hanley’s office says the two were a man and woman from out of town.
According to a news release, Andrea Rosewicz, 43, was from Avon, Ohio. Paul Prowant, 55, was from Seattle, Washington.
They were walking along North Main Street not far from Centennial Drive Sunday night when the two were hit by a vehicle and killed.
A call about the collision came in around 10:15 p.m. and the two were declared dead at the scene just before midnight.
25 News reports Stephanie Melgoza, 23, has been arrested on charges including Aggravated Driving Under the Influence, and Possession of Cannabis. She allegedly had the drugs and an open bottle of vodka in her car.
The case remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police, the East Peoria Police Department, and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office.
