METAMORA, Ill. – Despite a need for “significant repairs,” Metamora’s pool will stay open.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, the Metamora Park District has committed to keep the pool open, as long as the pool remains within budget and raises necessary funds.
The park district says it has compiled an Urgent Needs List, and adds the work can be funded through the efforts of Metamora Park Foundation volunteers and other donations.
But the district did not list what those repairs entailed.
The park district announced in early June that it has planned the pool’s final season for this summer, citing repair costs and decreasing turnouts.
The pool served as the home of the Metamora swim team, which recently produced Paris Olympics silver medalist Anna Peplowski.
